Math is Figureoutable: Transforming How We Teach and Learn 2025

Conference Description:
Join us at the Math is Figureoutable: Transforming How We Teach and Learn 2025 conference, where math educators and leaders come together to explore the future of math education in K-12 classrooms. This transformative event will provide innovative strategies and engaging professional development opportunities designed to support teachers in creating meaningful learning experiences for all students.

Our conference will focus on the Virginia Department of Education's 2023 Math Standards, the new Data Science Standards, and best practices for teaching that promote deeper understanding. Aligned with the NCTM Process Goals, we will delve into methods that foster student engagement, critical thinking, and problem-solving in the math classroom.

Opening Keynote:
Pam Harris is changing the way we view and teach mathematics. She is a mom, a former high school math teacher, a university lecturer, an author, and a mathematics teachers educator. Real Math is thinking mathematically, not just mimicking what a teacher does. Pam helps leaders and teachers to make the shift that supports students to learn Real Math.

Closing Keynote:
Jennifer Lempp is the author of Math Workshop: Five Steps to Implementing Guided Math, Learning Stations, Reflection, and More. This book is a practical resource meant to support teachers with strategies and structures to help create a learning environment where students are engaged in purposeful mathematics experiences.
